Job Description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Security team’s goal is to identify, measure, manage, mitigate, and report risk associated with products to keep our customer’s funds and data safe. As a Program Manager in the Security Programs team, you will work with the Security organization to build and drive meaningful business and security outcomes through complex XFN programs while empowering our engineering/product teams to act as owners of security risk. If you’re passionate about solving security problems at scale and want to join a fast-paced team helping to protect billions of dollars worth of digital assets and maintain our reputation, then we’d like to talk to you.

The Security Programs team aims to be “cohesive tissue” for critical initiatives as a strategic partner with the Security team and broader business to drive security outcomes. We are tasked with maintaining an objective view of cross-functional initiatives, and helping leaders across the organization ensure resources are prioritized towards the right initiatives while ensuring that those initiatives ultimately mitigate risk. Our team is composed of Project Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Program Managers who work cross-functionally to maintain Coinbase’s “Most Trusted” brand by driving Security initiatives that protect Coinbase and our customers.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

    • Collaborating with program sponsors and cross-functional Security partners to document opportunities, challenges, and risks related to traditional and novel Security domains.
    • Objectively assessing opportunities, challenges, and risks using qualitative and quantitative factors, including the identification of key risk indicators (KRIs) and performance indicators (KPIs) for program performance.
    • Leveraging analysis to propose prioritization of scope, roadmap, deliverables, and budget for new initiatives with a focus on driving cross-functional initiatives that incrementally increase the state of program maturity over time.
    • Working closely with program sponsors and cross-functional teams to influence adoption of critical initiatives on roadmap.
    • Rapidly identifying and escalating risks to enable proactive collaboration and timely resolution.
    • Providing program status to Security leadership while ensuring transparency on key metrics and program effectiveness
    • Concurrently manage multiple critical projects including:
      • Establishing and updating milestones, risks, and timelines to facilitate cross functional collaboration.
      • Managing the current state of various cross-functional workstreams as well as dependencies.
      • Holding teams accountable for deliverable quality and completeness.
      • Clearly assessing and communicating the impact of delays to the overall project timeline and security risks.
      • Providing program status to Security leadership, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
